What is the Carers Hub?

Our Carers Hubs provide free, confidential and personalised information and support to unpaid carers.

A carer is someone who supports a relative or friend of any age fitting at least one of the following descriptions:

  • elderly and frail
  • physically disabled
  • has a learning disability
  • has mental health issues
  • has a history of substance misuse
  • has a serious health condition

Our Carers Hubs aim to make life easier for carers in a variety of ways; whether by connecting them with other carers, or providing free, confidential advice and information, or access to employment, training and volunteering opportunities.

We currently operate two Hubs: the Reading and West Berkshire Carers Hub and the Wokingham Outreach Service.

Our Hubs are funded by Reading Borough Council, West Berkshire Council and Berkshire West CCG, and Wokingham Borough Council, respectively.

Our services

  • Access to carers support groups and peer support
  • Free training and caring support
  • Carers grants
  • and much more

Plus, you can find a number of other sources of information, including online resources, on our information and advice webpage.

Events

Annual events

We run annual events for carers throughout Berkshire in celebration of Carers Week, Carers Rights Day, and Young Carers Awareness Day, and occasional other events dependent on funding and resources. These are aimed at helping you to access information and support relevant to your personal situation.

Regular meetings

We also host regular support groups, meetings and drop-in sessions. Due to the Coronavirus outbreak our regular events may be running differently than normal, for safety reasons. For example, groups may take place at different times or locations, have reduced availability, or even be held online. Please contact us for details of all upcoming events.
