Support Worker – Carers Hub and Young Carers Service

 

Location:     Covering Nottinghamshire

Salary:          £21,000 per annum, pro rata

Job Type:    Permanent

Hours:          30 hours per week. This is a dual role, split between;

Adult Carers Hub (18.5 hours) and the Young Carers Service (11.5 hours)

                   

Own transport is essential for this role as you will be required to travel to different locations around Nottinghamshire.

TuVida is looking for an individual to support carers of all ages and their families across Nottinghamshire.

This is a key role in the development of a range of services providing support to carers and their families via a range of methods which includes a central helpdesk, one to one interventions, facilitation of adult carer support groups (face to face and virtual) and drop ins, facilitating young carer support groups, activities & outings and organising training with the ultimate aim of empowering carers to become self-sufficient.

The post holder will be home based operating across the Nottinghamshire area, with a regular day in the office each week to cover the Carers Hub helpline.  Specific duties include:

  • Identifying and engaging carers to access services available to them
  • Providing information, advice and guidance, and support via telephone, email and online
  • Facilitating and maintaining adult carer support groups and drop in sessions
  • Undertaking ‘1-2-1’ support to adult carers, carrying out carers assessments and producing support plans, to achieve outcomes that support the carer to become self-reliant and build a network of support
  • Facilitating and maintaining young carer support groups around the county area
  • Facilitating age appropriate activities and outings for young carers around the county area
  • Providing ‘1-2-1’ support to young carers
  • Developing creative ideas for engaging and supporting young carers
  • Providing person centred practice which may include signposting and/or referring to other organisations
  • Producing and maintaining accurate online records and interventions using a CRM system
  • Providing administration support on the young carers service
  • Assist carers in the identification of training needs that will develop resilience and support them within their caring role

What are we looking for in our Support Worker?

  • Previous experience in a health and social care or voluntary setting
  • Previous experience of working with adult carers (18+) and young carers (7-17 years old)
  • Competent use of IT including all Microsoft packages
  • Excellent communication and presentations skills
  • Excellent administration skills
  • Passionate about supporting carers with issues and challenges they face both within their role and society
  • Ability to deliver interventions that result in positive appropriate outcomes for carers 
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
