Young Carers Outreach Support Worker

Salary:                  £21,000 pro rota

Hours:                   24 per week - Monday – Friday

Here at TuVuda we are looking for an Outreach Worker to join us. In this role you will be supporting young unpaid carers who care for their loved ones every day. Our Outreach workers are here to make those carers lives as easy as possible and to provide advice, guidance and emotional support when needed.

Specific duties include:

  • Planning and delivering awareness raising sessions to local schools and colleges with the aim of identifying young carers who would benefit from the service
  • Liaising with professionals with the aim of raising awareness and understanding of young carers issues and support needs
  • Providing information, advice and guidance, and support to young carers and their families
  • Facilitating and maintaining young carers support groups
  • Facilitating age appropriate activities and outings for young carers.
  • Developing creative ideas for engaging and supporting young carers
  • Providing person centred practice which may include signposting and/or referring to other organisations
  • At key intervals, review progress with young carers via an outcomes based assessment tool
  • Producing and maintaining accurate online records and interventions using a CRM system

What are we looking for?

  • Previous experience in a health and social care or voluntary setting
  • Previous experience of working with carers / young carers
  • Competent use of IT including all Microsoft packages
  • Passionate about supporting young carers with issues and challenges they face both within their role and society
  • Ability to deliver interventions that result in positive appropriate outcomes for young carers
  • Some flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
