Dementia Homeshare (Redbridge)

A welcoming 'home from home' day care environment for people with dementia.

Dementia Homeshare is a small-scale day care service for people with early stage dementia in Redbridge. It takes place 10am-3pm, Monday to Saturday at the home of one of our specifically-trained Care Support Workers.

Caring is about individuals — and this is a central pillar of our Homeshare service. The member of staff sharing their home will provide personalised support for up to five carefully-matched people with dementia.

The service can also help carers take time off from caring responsibilities in the knowledge that the person they care for is safe and supported in an environment that is closely aligned with their needs.

Activities

Each Homeshare session includes a programme of activities to suit the needs and interests of the group – such as:

  • Puzzles and games
  • Newspaper discussions
  • Music and movies
  • Painting
  • Chatting and interaction
  • Garden enjoyment or gardening (in summer)

A full cooked lunch is provided for the group to enjoy together. Social interaction is encouraged and enabled.

Transportation

People who attend Homeshare can be picked up by us from their own home in the morning. We'll also drive them back home again at the end of the day.

Funding and eligibility

This is a funded service provided by the London Borough of Redbridge to people who meet specified eligibility criteria.

The service can also be funded by direct payment, personal budget or personally funded by the service user.

To check for available spaces and to find out if you are eligible to access the service, contact us using the details below.
